Summit Background

The global heavy-duty powertrain market is undergoing a profound green revolution faced with the urgent pressure of global carbon neutrality goals and increasingly stringent emission regulations. Logistics giants like Amazon, Maersk Line, retailers and shippers have incorporated supply chain decarbonization into their core ESG strategies, which strongly drives market demand for zero-carbon trucks. At the same time, the "scissors gap" formed by fluctuation of prices on traditional diesel and the continuous decline in battery costs, coupled with operating subsidies and carbon tax mechanisms, has made the total cost of ownership (TCO) of zero-emission models increasingly competitive in specific scenarios such as port short-haul, urban distribution and mining transportation.

Currently there are two main technical paths to meet zero emissions: low-carbon alternative fuel powered ICEs represented by LNG, methanol, hydrogen, ammonia and even e-fuel, as well as HEV, PHEV, BEV and FCVs. However, both alternative fuel powered ICEs and electrification have encountered difficulties like immature technology (e.g. insufficient battery energy density and too long recharge time) and incomplete charging and swapping infrastructure.
